International Online IT Startup Award
inDrive invited us to organise an annual international online award for female founders of IT startups whose projects have had the greatest impact on global development.
Despite the fact that there are many famous and successful women in the field, gender stereotypes such as “IT and women are not compatible” are still relevant in some countries. We organised an event where inDrive showcased the best projects that break these stereotypes.
Challenge
Our goal was to broadcast the award online, entirely in English, to female participants from all over the world, debunk gender stereotypes and select the best IT startup of 2023.
The main challenge for us was to immerse ourselves in a highly specialised topic: studying women’s issues in advanced technology, thoroughly researching each sector of the IT field, creating the concept, script and visual solutions.
Approach
The event was held on International Women’s Day. We approached the implementation with a fighting spirit – we analysed the materials, helped the client to feel the audience’s pain, identified the issues closest to the female participants and highlighted the key insights. The concept and script, visual design and technical solutions of the online event fully met the requirements of the international award.
We invited the winner of the Aurora Tech Award 2022 to join the judging panel and emphasised engagement – participants took part in voting and communicated with each other. A large amount of video content added dynamism to the show. We created video business cards and animated splash pages for each award nomination.
Results
Guests actively shared their experiences and more than 200 viewers were inspired by the heroines’ stories and bold projects. The client analysed around 400 entries, each proving that women bring ideas to life and create amazing projects against all odds.
The winner and epitome of choice freedom was Elizabeth Mwangi from Kenya. Her incredible project for women cleaners was the best through economic empowerment of women workers in Nairobi and gave tangible help to the women’s community.
