Summer corporate events, or how we can complete tasks and be not tired

For most people summer is a time of bright emotions, new experiences, amazing and exciting events. People don’t want to spend the short summer time on boring and serious events. But sometimes the task that faced the internal communications department doesn’t correspond to a light summer mood. How can we create an event that you want to come to? How can we be interested? How can we put much value upon an event for people? Nowadays, the trend is engagement, lively emotions, new experiences and the possibility of self-realization. By picking out the basic expectations and needs of your internal audience, you can create any event to be bright and memorable. We have prepared for you a brief overview of the main internal communication tasks and its solutions.

TASK #1

Let’s start with a tough call – the formation of a unified information space of a company, explaining the strategy and business purposes of a company.
Difficult ideas, figures, indicators, and strategic plans cause people to feel bored, and even to be a little scary. Especially when it’s summer outside: hot, July…So:

TASK #2

Strengthening of the corporate culture, implementation of changes (company values, processes), and generation of unitary standards of behavior in accordance with the company’s rulebook and ethics.
Some lively formats for solving the task:
For getting involvement, use feedback collection tools (working with objections, making valuable suggestions and new ideas from employees). The main thing is that they are organically infixed into the concept of the event and /or presented in a playful manner. Motivational speaker or headliner of the evening should add emotions. Do not forget about the evening part, if during the day the topic is more complex and the work is more intense, the party or gala dinner will be lighter and more emotional.

TASK #3

It is increasing the team spirit, setting up team cooperation, and team building.

This kind of task requires the organization of game programs and team building with a competitive component. How can we achieve more results together instead of alone? How can we use each other’s skills, knowledge and talent as effectively as possible? The gaming experience exactly helps to realize the opportunities that team interaction opens up in life and at work. A prerequisite here is the team achievement of a common goal with individual contribution to the overall victory.

A game is in charge of emotions, integrating and experience. Pay special attention to the ratio of the stated idea and the level of immersion, as well as the honesty of the proposed tests. If the game is more honest, then experience is brighter, victory flair is sweeter and significance of participation is higher: it means a huge value of the experience. Profanity doesn’t work here. Which game do we need to choose depends on the company’s principles and the performance targets. Creative productive programs, themed logic and communication games, picnics with culinary team building or engineering tasks based on the chain reaction principle can suit moderately active teams with different ages and experience of participants. Team games and adventure team building are great for gambling, physically active teams. And regattas, adventure races and trendy extreme races (Race of Heroes, Bear Race, etc.) are ideal for those who like everything to be real.

It is better to choose an easier, but honest format of the game that is suitable for your employees.

The team building lets you make objects, create menus and work out an advertising campaign, compete with other teams on the admission and presentation of your own creations, but at the same time it gives a unique effect of overall achievement. The result is a bright festival, a holiday that employees created together and for each other by joining forces.

TASK #4

Building the company’s brand, enhancing company’s loyalty and employee engagement.

The most successful solution can be festivals, thematic and creative programs. Formats involving shared adventure, new experiences, and feelings are interactive excursions, regattas, immersive programs. Socially significant events work well, such as planting a park area for future generations, organizing performances in social institutions, organizing playgrounds — everything that does not contradict principles and mission of your company. Suitable format, representing the mood of the company and focused on the expectations of the employees, creates conditions for acquaintance and integration of new employees into the team. Make sure that the activities are accompanied by networking for the best effect of engagement. Add games, competitions, costumed processions, fill your event with experience you want to share.

Our example is the event for Burger King. The annual summer event takes place in the format of a summer festival, where you don’t hear a word about business, work and money, and the whole day is dedicated to the excellent mood and cheerful feelings of the whole company!

You should not expect people to be fully turned on in the summer, only involvement works.
